What people actually host

Nextcloud admin manual: installation is the usual open replacement for a consumer cloud drive: files, calendars, contacts, and optional Talk. Teams run it on a VPS so data stays on a disk they control, then point a domain at the box. That is a file server, not a NovaVPS product we operate.

Pick Business or larger if you expect many users and previews.
Install from Nextcloud admin manual: installation (PHP+DB or their documented AIO). Put TLS on your own domain.
Put media and DB on local NVMe. Snapshot before upgrades.
Switzerland or Iceland if process is the story; Amsterdam if users are close to AMS-IX.

Limits

You are the admin: backups, updates, and abuse tickets. Adult content that is legal is allowed. CSAM is not. Paying in crypto does not back up the files for you.
