How to choose

Ashburn wins when the audience is in North America: low RTT across the US and Canada, Data Center Alley peering, and adjacency to the big US clouds. Amsterdam wins when the audience is in Europe: sub-millisecond AMS-IX, dense transit, and a GDPR facility. Same VPS and dedicated SKU price in both. One email-and-password signup, one crypto invoice. Pick latency market, not vendor.

Law and process

The Ashburn rack is under US/Virginia law; the Amsterdam rack is under Dutch/EU law. The contracting company is Meridian Node Ltd. in Saint Kitts and Nevis either way. In both locations we accept abuse and takedown claims only from local law enforcement of the facility jurisdiction - not from private senders or forwarded templates - and no such precedent is on file. Criminal process that actually lands is another matter; the AUP applies everywhere.

Latency numbers

Ashburn is ~85 ms to Amsterdam and low single-digit ms to most of the US East. Amsterdam is <1 ms to AMS-IX and ~9-30 ms to most of the EU. An EU-primary app in Ashburn feels slower than a US-primary app in Amsterdam. Buy the flag that matches the users, not the marketing.

When neither is right

Need speech posture more than milliseconds? Iceland or Switzerland. Need LATAM or APAC? Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo. Fail over with two VPS and your own DNS if the audience is split.
