What people actually run

Lightning Labs documentation and Core Lightning need a bitcoind (or an equivalent backend) and an IP that does not rotate. Do not send Lightning to the on-chain BTC invoice address.

From invoice to channels

Business to start. Dedicated when channel state should not share a noisy neighbour.
Follow Lightning Labs documentation or Core Lightning. Keep the backend on NVMe.
Hosting bill: on-chain BTC, XMR or USDT.

A Lightning node is allowed. Attacking peers is not.
